Updating AVG system files - March31st release - renders Windows 10 unresponsive,
neither do any startup applications start up, nor can any application intiate including taskmanager (Ctrl-Shift-Esc), as well as the Start-Menu.
The command prompt window initiated by the task scheduler for my startup apps stays open, and eventually shows "Access denied" but never closes. A Touchpanel click brings up the mousepointer arrow in response, tracing touch movements on the screen, so the workstation is not completely dead.
I am using auto login, Ctrl-Alt-Del lets me logout, but login is not possible after that point, apart from everything else.
I had to go back to the last restorepoint to recover from this condition.

Three identical workstations show identical symptoms.

This update has been causing the issue:

Internet Security update is available
Release date was March 31, 2022 05:52AM
(ver.22.3.3228-build 22.3.7108.721)
