@Alok Kumar
Sorry for the delay in replying.
About a day ago, there was another update. After that, the signature appeared…for a bit. Today though, it stopped appearing until I applied the fix you suggested. It seems to be appearing again.
I will let you all know if this seems to be a reoccurring problem.
This does bring up one question though (that I think was in my original topic): If I do not see that AVG signature at the bottom of my e-mails, does that mean that AVG is not checking my e-mails properly? In short, is it something to worry about, or is it more a cosmetic thing?
Yes, the screenshot does show the "Virus Free" signature…on the first reply. However, the second reply does not show the signature. Is that what is actually supposed to happen?
And yes, I am checking the account from the browser. I don't have any other way to check it, as I have an old-fashioned phone that cannot handle that.
Thanks Alok!
Just fyi, ever since the update (which I downloaded from the AVG program itself), the "Virus-free" message has not come up.
@Abirami Thanks, that's the main thing I wanted to know.
I do not see a "Email Component" option. I do however see an "Email Shield" option. Is that the same thing?

@Avinash
Which program update? I am looking at my AVG dashboard and not only is there no indication of a recent update (aside from the one to version 18.1.3044 that I already had done when I originally posted this question), but I am not being asked to update anything either…
Is there something I am missing? Still not getting the "Virus-Free" image on my e-mails.
Anna,
No, there is nothing to worry about the lack of AVG signature in emails. Your emails are completely protected with AVG. However, we need to check further about this weird be. Please go to AVG Free Antivirus->Menu->Settings->Components->click on 'customize' option next to 'Email component' and provide the screenshot of that email settings window to check and assist further.
Hello,
While I am not having an issue per se, I would like to ask this question just out of curiosity.
Sometimes, when I get or send e-mails, a message will show up on the bottom of the e-mail, like so. Imgur: The magic of the Internet (The message in question is the envelope with the message "Virus-free" next to it)
However, sometimes said message and image will not show, as shown here: Imgur: The magic of the Internet
Where (as in, the kinds of e-mails) it shows up in (or doesn't) is random. I've seen it show up on e-mails that are just pure text, as well as those with links or attachments, and I've seen it not show up in all three kinds.
So, here is my question. Or rather, questions,
1) If the message does not show up, does it mean that the e-mail I sent/got has a virus of some kind, or is a thing that shows up/doesn't show up at random?
2) If the message does not show, does that mean that AVG is not properly protecting my e-mails?
I have AVG Antivirus Free (the latest update), and the E-mail Shield part of Web & E-mail Protection is turned on, if that helps.
Anna, since it is a web email that you are using, please enable the below setting in AVG.
Go to AVG > Menu > Settings > General > check "Enable AVG email signature" option and click OK to save settings.
@Alok
Yes, I tried this, and may have said that a few replies up. Cannot recall if I did. Either way, it worked for a bit, but then stopped again. If you want me to give it another shot, I will.

@Avinash: Tried your suggestion, turns out I have it checked already.
Here's another thing that happened today. Notice how one e-mail shows the signature, but the other does not, despite being not a long time apart. Just would like to reiterate that I am not worried (especially since member Abirami said that there is protection regardless of the Signature's presence or lack thereof), just curious as to why it's so sporadic.

Hello,
First of all, please forgive my delay in responses. Trying to get some aspects of my life back together after recovering from a severe injury. Anyways, here is what I see when I go through the process outlined in Abirami's comment.
Thank you so much for providing screenshot Anna,
I have escalated your case to our senior team. We will contact you once we receive a reply.
Best regards,
Alok.
@Alok Kumar
Just an update, and yes it does seem to be a reoccurring thing.

Here's an image. As you can see, one of my replies has the signature, and the other does not, despite being not that long apart time-wise. One was after resetting to factory defaults like you suggested, the other (the one without the signature) was after doing…just my normal routine. Did not touch AVG, nor do I have any custom settings besides what the Free Edition gives me.
My question still applies though: Is this lack of signature something to worry about, or is the signature mostly a cosmetic thing?
@Abirami Thanks, that's the main thing I wanted to know.
I do not see a "Email Component" option. I do however see an "Email Shield" option. Is that the same thing?
Yes, Anna. Both the options are same.
Hello Anna,
I'm contacting you regarding AVG signature in emails. This seems to be strange, all or none of the emails should have signatures. I request you to restore AVG settings to defaults from AVG > Settings > Troubleshooting > Restore factory defaults. After that please check the status of it and also keep us informed. Regarding version updates, yes you have installed our latest version of AVG Protection which is 18.1.3044.
Best regards,
Alok.
Hello Anna,
I understand your concern on this email protection.
Please let me know if you are accessing this emails from Outlook or from web page.
If it is from outlook, please let us know if you have multiple accounts maintained in Outlook.
The email protection might be working for one of the email account and not for the other.
