A program locked by AVG

Hello Lionell,

Let's have a look into this together.

Please make sure that you're using the latest version of AVG AntiVirus(18.7)/AVG Internet Security(18.8). To find: Open AVG Internet Security > Menu > About

If so, add the software in Exceptions list and check if you can access it. To add exceptions: Open AVG AntiVirus/AVG Internet Security > Menu > Settings > General > Exceptions.

Keep us posted here to get further assistance.

I wrote a program that is NOT a virus or malware but AVG thought it was and locked it.  I can no longer use it because AVG is preventing me from accessing or changing ownership.  Can it be unlocked and can AVG be made to but out of doing things I don't want it to do?  I develop software for a living but apparently AVG doesn't want to permit me to do so.

Lionel, AVG will flag an application without a digital signature as a threat. It should not get blocked after you added to the exceptions list.

I solved my problem.  I downloaded Microsoft's Security Essentials, uninstalled AVG, installed Security Essentials, rebooted.  After which all was working just fine.

AVG does make a computer secure by making in all but totally unusable.  AVG seems to have fogotten that my computer is MY computer and should keep only the bad stuff out.  However, it accuses any new software as being bad, locks it before it verifies that it actually is bad - never to release it again as long as AVG exsits on the computer in question.  The user should be given an option to allow AVG to continue or to shut the fuck up!   No. AVG always knows best and keeps you from working until it gets good and ready to allow you to use your computer again.

AVG can go to hell and burn forever for all I care!   Never agan will I use AVG.
