recently had correspondence with AVG regarding possible refund. Had been charged on three separate occasions for same security package. Refund refused since then in trying to sign into pc have been getting following message. The Group Policy Client Service failed the sign in. Access denied. I strongly believe that the fault lies with AVG.

I understand your difficulties. Have you rebooted your computer in safe mode with networking? If you are in Safe mode please uninstall AVG from the control panel and restart your PC in normal mode to check the issue.
