Accessing email prevented since updating AVG

I have recently renewed AVG Ultimate and have been unable to get my emails from Virgin Media server using Lenovo laptop/Bing browser as I used to. There isn't a problem with Chromebook or Android phones through the mail apps. 
Could it be that AVG is clashing with the built in security?
