Hi Kenneth,
This isn't the experience we want you to have. Our developers has designed the program in such a way, depending upon the customer reviews & the number of customers using Data Safe.
Upon checking our records, we see that you've reached us earlier & the issue regarding AVG My Account is been investigated by the concerned team.
Meanwhile, you can try to check the subscriptions by visiting this link : my.avg.com/subscriptions.
Also, from your description, we see that you've tried to activate the program using AVG account login credentials. We can activate the program using the license number.
An email having the activation steps has been sent to you. Please follow those steps to activate the program & let us know the outcome.
AVG's account management is a mess, no other way I can say it. I was wondering if others have had these problems?
To an extent it involve replacement of a barely useful feature, Data Safe, by the totally comical Sensitive Data Shield. But I have commented on that elsewhere so have nothing to say other than I use other sodftware instead now
In sorting that problem I reviewed my use of AVG Total Internet Security which happened to be at the same time as an email saying my subscription expires in two months. When I looked at my account details on the AVG web page, although I had an account "My Products" showed no licences so I followed the procedure to have an online chat with an agent who was unable to fix it. I sent him the necessary screen shot y email for him to escalate the issue. Next day I had an email saying it was fixed and asking me to check the website. Themn "My Account" showed an error message about unable to connect. So another online chat with another agent and sent another screenshot. Silence since.
However, yesterday AVG did yet another update and I had to re-start my PC but did not take notice of the results (It is updat after update so get numbed to it!")
Today, on starting my PC I had a screen from AVG thanking me for using AVG Free for 19 months and inviting me to have a 30 day trial of a paid version. When I checked the status of the installation it was for AVG Free. So AVG had downgraded my protection without warning and without subsequent notification. There was an option to register a license so I clicked the button and entered my email address and password and it accepted them and activated my normal version. It also shows in "My Products" now.
But, but but… now it invited me to renew because I only have 81 days left whereas eight days ago I had 60 days left. Weird or what?
There will be more to come because I protect two systems for two years at a special price but the automatic renewal systems tries to force you into the much more expensive single machine/ single year option.
