Activation failed

Hi,
I have been charged for a new subscription to AVG Tune Up in January of this year, however I have not had time to check this out. When I try to activate  the subscription the computer (HP 250 laptop) goes through the motions and comes to the end and comes up with 'failed'.
Please advise how to resolve the issue?. A pop up window continually asks me to subscribe because my subscription has expired.
