Activation of new software

My current Internet Security Unlimited expires shortly.  Rather than renewing direct with AVG online, I have purchased a new Internet Security Unlimited from a third party supplier.  I have attempted to activate this (before the existing protection expires) but, having logged in to my AVG account, I am offered either "Renew now" (online, direct with AVG) or "Use another account".  I wish to do neither - I just wish to install and activate the new, replacement Internet Security Unlimited before the old one expires.  Can I do this, and if so, how?  Or must I wait until the existing cover expires before I can install the new one?  If this is the case, must I install the Free antivirus software for the interim between the old software expiring and the new software being installed and activated?

Hi Tony.
We're here to help. If it is an online purchase, the new subscription would have been merged with the earlier. Since it is a reseller purchase, you have to wait until the current subscription expires. Yes, you can use the free version of AVG in the interim.

Upon successfully registering the new subscription with your AVG MyAccount, you can upgrade the free version of AVG to paid version by activating it as per the instructions in this link.
