Nancy, For removal info have you 'googled' remove www.only-search?..
No AV product is capable of providing you with 100% protection although AVG are always working 24/7.

AVG would recommend to start with uninstalling all unknown/unused programs and browser addons.

I have unknowingly downloaded a program that has hijacked my Google Chrome and I can not get rid of it.  www.only-search.  My AVG did not detect it as a problem but I have tried to uninstall Google Chrome and I can't.  I keep getting a message to close all Google pages and there are non open that I can see.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
