Adding/merging a second (older) email to my avg account

I used to use my work email address for my login to my avg account and have been buying and using AVG products with that account for ten years or so.  I have had to stop using that email address for any such application/feature (I don't work there anymore) and have started using a 'personal' email address for that.  I have just 'renewed' my Ultimate Subscription, and have used my account associated with the 'personal' account to do that.  I tried to get the existing (work email) subscriptions visible on my new account, and it says I should add/register my 'other' email address as a second one to the account.  There's no obvious way to do this, nor any instruction that I can find.  Typically, questions on this topic on this forum over the last couple of years aren't answered publicly, so the knowledge isn't shared.  When answers do come, (i think usually the older ones), AVG reps say it cannot be done.  Since AVG are still saying it can be done (and advise doing it) on the account pages, could anyone advise how it's done?
