Adding your own rules in AVG FireWall does not work?

I have the exact same issue with Plex and AVG InternetSecurity.

On the previous version of AVG, I could add Plex to the firewall rules.  With version 17, I can add a custom rule for Plex, but when I go back in to see the rules, the ones I've added have disappeared and I can only access plex if I turn the firewall off.  Not happy Jan :(

I ran into a similar problem and below is the fix that AVG Support provided that worked for me.

We regret to hear about the inconvenience caused. Do not uninstall and reinstall the AVG programs, we suggest you to change the Firewall settings to fix this issue, please follow the below instructions to set the network profiles in Firewall : Open AVG Zen -> Open Internet Security -> Click on "Menu" in the top right corner -> Settings -> Components -> Firewall -> Customize -> Network profiles -> Change the networks from "Public" to "Private" -> OK

Dear AVG employee,
I have some issue with enabling AVG Firewall rules for certain applications. If AVG firewall is turned on I can’t access my Plex server outside of my Network. 

I am currently on Windows 10 Pro (up to date) and my AVG Internet Security version is 17.3.3443.0.

All necessary ports are forwarded on my Router, which is easy to see because when I use internal Windows Firewall and disable AVG Firewall I can access to my Plex server outside of my Network.

To solve this problem, I added rules in AVG Firewall for Plex Server but for some reason this does not work, whenever AVG firewall is activated I can’t access my Plex server. See screenshot for the rules I used.

Also in one of the AVG answers here the solution could be removing AVG and reinstall it. I did this for all components of the AVG but after a new install it still blocks the access from outside to Plex server. I even changed the rules to ask me for any application if it wants to access Internet, all sorts of apps needed approval except Plex itself. Also Python in screenshots is Plex related and I changed the rules for that as well.

I need a technical answer please.

A AVG employe did it trough remote assist and its working now.
