I recently got a new computer with Windows 10 on it. Put AVG free on it and everything was running jsut fine, until maybe 4 days after when the program started listing a trojan in previously okay files. Now, I didn't download/install any programs I don't trust, didn't browse any odd websites or open suspicious mails/attachements. There were no suspicious installed programs to be found and my daily scan came back clean.
I reset the computer, which for some reason did not work, so I flattened the whole hard drive and installed everything from scratch. Things went well for about a week and now the problem pops up again. All scans return clean but when I try to start up some programs or even run them from the manufacturer's disk, AVG tells me it detected a trojan in the *.exe. I am 100% sure the file is okay (ran on the old computer with no problems or any viruses making themselves known), but I am still afraid to install because the antivirus tells me there's something there.
How can I make sure if it's a real issue or false alarm? After wiping the hard drive and just installing the bare minimum of stuff (AVG, Chrome with no extensions and Steam), there shouldn't be a thing left to find?
