I followed your instructions to the letter, but I still have the problem. I was required to use AVGClear to get the install program to work.
When I open AVG Ultimate after it loads I see this message "Protection is disabled" and "Protection will be automatically enabled after PC restart."
A restart changes nothing. I still have the message. Also, the "Fix Now" button does not get rid of the error message either.
Will this be fixed in a future release? Is it safe to ignore the message for now? Is there a fix?

Lee, appreciate your efforts so far. Could you clarify if the issue is now resolved after using AVG Clear tool and reinstalling AVG?
