So I followed the steps exactly as described. Indeed it removed that error message! So thank you for that.
But now I have another issue. After activating the newly installed AVG, now my AntiTrack is suddenly a separate subscription (with the same end date) and I am given the choice to "switch subscriptions". I can not add AntiTrack to the existing subscription even though it was included in the package. If I do the 'switch', it confirms that I have now changed subscriptions, but I then get exactly yhe same subscription overview page (see screenshot). So I can't seem to use AntiTrack anymore...

We'll certainly check & help you sort this issue as well.
Firstly, please check if your AVG AntiTrack program is activated.
To do that, please open AVG AntiTrack > Menu > Settings > Subscriptions details.
Under 'Subscriptions details', check if the program is displaying the correct expiration date.
Secondly, if you've logged into your AVG Internet Security using your AVG My Account credentials, please log out & use your activation code to manually reactivate your AVG Internet Security.
Let us know if the issue still persists after performing the above steps.
