AVG - this is the single most important feature for me other than actually finding viruses. I have been a paid subscriber for many machine-years and have recently stopped using AVG for this reason and the one stated eariler that AVG has lost it's customer focus: users want a product they can run, get results, start a scan and leave. I hope you find your way back to your core mission someday.
I've been dealing with this issue myself for about 3 weeks now - I use this on my 'working' computer (run a scan Friday evening, then shut-down) and I've discovered the computer is just never restarting or even powering off anymore.
AVG-Free customers do not get access to Technical Support via phone or email, which is why we are using the forums for assistance.
Per AVG:"Note: Phone and email support are available only to customers of paid products."
Or, is the sentiment that because we are AVG Free users our satisfaction and experience does not matter?

Thanks for the reply. I've done as you suggested and it still doesn't work. Yet again I am advised to remove the software and then re-install it. As I am on the paid for version it seems a shame that your product is faulty. Once my licence expires I will definitely be looking elsewhere.
Chris,
Please accept my apologies with regards to the AVG software not living up to your expectations. To generate a scan report please follow the below steps,(for example: Deep virus scan is considered.)
- Open AVG
- Open Scan setting (symbol of gear, bottom of the window)
- Open Deep Virus Scan setting (symbol of gear, Deep Virus Scan tile)
- Click on "Report file"
- Check "Generate report", fill "Filename" (e.g. AVGScanReport), and check all reported items (Infected items, Hard errors, Soft errors, OK Items, Skipped items)
- Click on "OK" and "OK"
To view the scan report, please follow the path C:\ProgramData\Avg\Antivirus report.
Regarding the issue with Shut Down After Scan feature, please get in touch with our technical support team ( http://avgclick.me/AVGtechnical ) so they can collect necessary information about the issue and escalate it to next level.
I am running the latest version of Internet Security 17.9.3040 having just updated it. I run a full scan every day at the same time in the evening and have ticked the "shutdown system after scan finishes". After the scan the countdown comes up to shut the pc down but fails to do this. I have tried running repair to see if the program had a fault but this made no difference. Any ideas how to get the pc to shutdown after the scan?
We certainly understand your difficulties.
We have already reported this to our developers and based on more feedback from our customers, it may be considered in the future AVG updates.
Hello Steve,
I understand how this must be upsetting.
I see that you have already contacted our senior technical team and they have informed that this particular issue is a bug and our developers are working to fix it.
I assure you that the issue will be fixed as soon as possible.
I appreciate your patience and understanding on this matter.

Good Luck.
I have been using AVG since the early 1990's. I have been a Pro user for almost 20 years.
I used to teach adults how to use AVG. Now I can't even figure it out myself.
That said, the Shut Down After Scan feature no longer seems to work. I know I'm done playing with it.
I have NO IDEA how to operate AVG any more. Heck I haven't even seen a Scan Report since this latest edition of AVG. NOT ONE SCAN REPORT. I have no idea WHERE to even look for it and the HELP Files are USELESS. My Recommendation is to Dump AVG for good and purchase Avast from now on. That's what I'm doing. And that's was EVERYONE I Know is doing. Good Riddence AVG.
Steve, Did you resolve your issue with AVG?. Not sure if this is now available in the latest version.

Yes the option is still there. This has now been taken further and a support ticket has been raised. AVG has been completely removed and reinstalled but still fails to shutdown
