After selecting check for updates get msg Update failed. Can't seem to update

I have tried to upload the screen shot as requested but it is 1.9Mb in size and you only allow 1Mb it is a PNG file.
Have pasted into an email reply to your email and get an email response

After selecting <Check for Updates> from AVG menu get a msg <Update Failed. Sorry we can't seem to update you now. Please try later.
Have retried this throughout the day with same result
AVG screen says Virus definitions up to date.
Have been used AVG on my MacBook pro for years without any problem until today.
As far as I am aware nothing has changed on my PC.
Any suggestions?

The issue might be due to some configuration error. That's why we have asked you to reinstall the software.

We appreciate your efforts in sharing us the screenshot here, John. We've already received the same via email & we've suggested you to restart your MAC once to check the issue. It seems that you've missed to notice the email or it might have gone into your spam/junk folder.

Thanks, Ive just carried out your instructions and it now is reporting update successful as expected so problem solved.
It would be nice to know why I got the problem in first place.
Ive installed the 2019 version, Im not sure what version I had before but asssumed it would be automatically kept up to date. Maybe thats the reason?

What was the AVG product which you are trying to update?

Can you mention the current version of your AVG?
