After updating AVG, it now keeps sending me to install avg web browser add on every time I start Firefox
I don't want to use this add on. I never asked for it.
How do I stop this from happening?
Where abouts in settings do I disable the extension, as I can't see it anywhere

When I look at these Names than I assume that you are from India and that the "AVG-Help" is located there.
So how much did you know about the Software ?
Are you a Software-Developer or did you program the Software ?
I assume not !
You're sitting in India, looking at all the post here and then always use the same Textblocks to give answer to the People who got a Problem with AVG.
You don't know absolutely nothing about the Software so you can't give any real help.
And I've got no interest in downloading some Software, so that another Person can tinker with my Computer. This is the behave of a Virus, and I don't want something like that on my PC.
If this "Support" can't give us some Help over the Internet, what is the meaning of this "Support" ?
And why should we do all the Work ?
Repair, uninstall, install !
This doesn't fix the Problem because the Problem lies within the AVG Antivirus Software.
I can repair, uninstall, install the Software a thousand Times, the Problem will stay until it's fixed by AVG !
AVG should admit that there is a Problem, think about how to fix it and then give us a new Update which removes this outdated Add-on and prohibited AVG Antivirus Free to open a Website we didn't want on our Browsers !
No the repair didn't work
I have a new screen shot showing that Avast is the start point of the wsgsite call before getting to the AVG Online Security Add On

This so called "support" is a joke. Run by idiots who know nothing about the product they are supposed to be supporting.
I let the tech guys do thier stuff but still the same so they upgraded it to senior tech guy not heard from him though
I have however fixed the issue
I did the following
1. Turned off System Restore
2. Rebooted
3, Rebooted again ( to make sure)
4, Ran AVG Repair
a. Control Panel
b, Right Click Avg
c. Select Uninstall
d. Select Repair
5. Rebooted
6. Rebooted again ( to make sure)
7. Turned on System Restore
Not done it again since
So I presume that repair works, but it was being put back again during system reboot from system restore
Hope this helps
Hi John Pickering,
Many thanks for the info, seems to have solved the same problem for me with Opera browser.
Thank you for writing back to us, John.
Upon checking the screenshot, we can see that the AVG browser extension has already been disabled or it wasn't enabled at all.
Please repair your AVG Antivirus Free as mentioned in this article, restart your computer once and check if the issue persists.
Keep us updated.
I've got the same Problem !
AVG hijacked my Firefox Browser !
Hello Claus.

We'd recommend you keep the entire conversation in one threat to speed up the resolution.
Thanks for your understanding in advance.
@Henry G
You're absolutely right, I can't say it any better !
@john pickering
So they send you an E-Mail to help you too !
For heaven's sake, don't follow this Mail.
They want you to install some Software so that a "Technician" from AVG has access to your PC from the Outside !
Do you really want this ?
This is like a Virus, with this Software they can spy on your Computer and see what kind of Software you have installed. Maybe they can look at your private Files too !
Again, do you really want this ?
I say it again:
AVG should admit that they made an Error, they should fix this and release an Update without this outdated Add-on.
Also they should stop making Firefox or any other Internetbrowser open a Link to this Add-on.
