Please open your AVG PC Tuneup dashboard-> speed up (second component) -> disable background programs/ disable startup programs. Check if your MS Word application is disabled, if so, please enable it.
If these instructions didn't resolve the issue, undo the recent changes using rescue center. Open AVG PC Tuneup dashboard and select "rescue center" which is at the bottom right corner of that interface. Let us know if you face any difficulties, Thank you!

I had the same problem and going to programs, finding Microsoft was disabled, I enabled it and now it all opens fine!
