We regret the discomfort this has caused you. In this case, we'd request you to submit the detected file for false-positive analysis using this link. Once you've submitted the false-positive report, our concerned team will analyze the file and if found harmless, they'll whitelist it right away and update the status via email. Until then, we request you to temporarily disable the "File shield" component of your AVG Internet Security. Thank you for understanding in advance!

Not sure what's cracking off but JUST had a virus database update (19/10/22) and now the service controlling thermal regulation OCControl.Service.exe on my Alienware is being detected as a Win32:malware-gen by AVG File Shield. Trouble is it keeps trying to quarantine the exe BUT can't... resulting in multiple detections.
Pretty sure this will be a false positive but has anybody else encountered this and if so managed to fix it?
I've already added the path and executable name (cut and paste, NOT typed manually) to the exceptions list but AVG is simply ignoring my entry. HAve tried rebooting but still no joy.
