Please disable AVG temporarily on your computer and check if you are able to play this game.
To disable AVG temporarily, please right click on the AVG icon present at the bottom right corner of your desktop(System Tray) and click on slider bar to "Disable Protection".
If it works fine, please add the game to AVG exception https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-make-exclusions-from-all-scans-and-shields list and check if everything works fine with AVG enabled.
You can also send the sample https://www.avg.com/en-us/false-positive-file-form of this file to AVG for analysis.
I have purchased a Wild Tangent Game and the AVG security wont let me play it.

Open AVG Internet Security installed on your computer, click on "Menu->Settings->Troubleshooting->Passive mode".
From here enable "Passive Mode" and check if you are able to access the application.

Please disable Passive mode and try to disable each components and check which is blocking your game applications.
Open AVG Internet Security -> Menu -> Settings-> Components -> turn off each components one by one and check which components is causing this issue.
Gillian, do you mean that you enabled Passive mode and still the same issue?
there is no AVG icon at the bottom righthand corner of my screen
No that didn’t work ,I uninstalled and installed again and it still says there is an error
