This is the same unhelful response your other support individual has given on 2 separate occasions over the last 2 years.
This file is a HIJACKER. AVG identifies it as IDP.Generic
I had to remove it from a computer yesterday.
The ONLY way to remove it is to:
Reboot in SAFE MODE
Go to Program Files(x86)/Amazon/Amazon Assistant and delete the entire directory.
If you're comfortable editing the registry and have done it thousands of times like I have, run regedit and search for "Amazon". Delete every ROOT key pertaining to Amazon Assistant.
<reboot>
Update AVG, configure it to scan ALL FILES and run a full scan.
How many legitiamate .hta files have you ever seen on a computer?
I am personally responible for selling, installing and configuring over 4,000 AVG products since about 2005 or 2006.
It would be refreshing to see some actually helpful support from AVG for once.
I have windows 10 and run AVG antivirus software.
I have a pop up window - C:\Program Files (x86)\Amazon\Amazon Assistant\aa.hta - that keeps popping up.
Any ideas how to get rid of this?
