An error occurred during installation

Hi,

I tried to install AVG on my Mid 2011 iMac but get an error message at the very end of the installation after "Validation of packages …". I can't figure out what could could cause the issue. The original message is in French but here is a loose translation:

An error occurred during installation.

Installation failed.
The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software publisher for assistance.

Any suggestion?

Thanks

Thank you for waiting, Veda.

We request you to clear all the traces of AVG and reinstall latest version using this link: https://s-install.avcdn.net/mac-av/10_10/AAVG/avg_mac_security_online.dmg to check with the status.

To remove the traces uninstall AVG if installed and open folder /Library/Application Support/AVGAntivirus/components/uninstall/ and run the com.avg.uninstall.app

To uninstall AVG 15 -
Open Finder > Applications > right click on AVG AntiVirus.app > select Show package contents > open Contents folder > double click on Uninstaller.app.

To Uninstall AVG 17
Run uninstallation from /Library/Application Support/AVGAntivirus/components/uninstall/com.avg.uninstall.app

Hi Veda,

What is the OS version? Please share us the screenshot (http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-create-a-screenshot

Thanks

Hello Ranjani,

Thank you for the suggestion. However, none of these files exist on my computer. I had never installed AVG before and have never been able to complete the installation. I tried once again with the installer downloaded with the link you provided but I get the same error message at the end of the installation.

Hello Ranjani,

Thank you for the suggestion. However, none of these files exist on my computer. I had never installed AVG before and have never been able to complete the installation. I tried once again with the installer downloaded with the link you provided but I get the same error message at the end of the installation.

None of the new instruction work.
When I use the terminal command I get the following message:
/Library/Application Support/AVGAntivirus/components/uninstall/com.avg.uninstall.app/Contents/MacOS/com.avg.uninstall: No such file or directory

Are AVG and Avast the same company? I get the exact same issue when I try to install Avast for Mac. And there are no Avast app or files installed on my computer.

Veda, to analyze the issue further, I need to submit your concern to our senior technicians along with installation logs.
I have sent you an email with steps on how to collect and upload the data required for analyzing your issue. Please check your inbox and spam/junk folder as well.
And yes, Avast has acquired AVG and both programs runs on same engine.

Veda, For your info, just in case that you are unaware, you can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
