An unbelivable level of avg stupidity

as much fun as i had diagnosing and fixing a computer which is all in chinese, and i only speak english i managed to isolate it to a rootkit (mslmedia.sys), found something to remove it (avg) and it is in the process of doing that

unfortunateley in the avg programmers everlasting wisdom, are trying to use utf-8 character encoding, in an ASCII only environment

the main boot up scan is in ASCII but the options to remove the rootkit are not

i am presented with the folowing options:

so what are the options in english, i need to know which number to press, and, you might want to fix this!
 

on the "contact support portal"
my god the javascript on this site is bad!!!! can post without login in that goes no where

live chat dont work just sits there loading for an eternity

browsing with a phone gets you stuck in android options for products, cant get out of it even if you choose windows 7

being logged into support logs you out again when filling in for help, will this work at all?
and the same for community support!
even the yes button on are you using any avg products needs convincing to work!

so i gave up with having a fight with stupid contact forms, and tried calling support

you would think they could understand the very basics, of what number do i push in a boot time scan right? wrong! they kept throwing me back to the menu because they didnt have a clue what i was talking about and finally when i got someone to understand that, they refused to help because im not a paid member (like hell im gonna pay when you cant even make the contact form work right!)

and when i tried to explain the problems with the site i got them compleatley lost, so i gave up cam back and tried here again, eventually fining my way here!

i see i am logged in on the left side, yet its asking me to login to my avg account up the top and this is from a clean isolated comptuer using a different connection to the net

i have absolutely no idea if this post is going to work!!!! *fingers crossed* --hits post button for the dozenth time on various contact forms---


if you want us to pay for your products, could you at least get the basics right!!!

thanks for that, i did manage to find the exact options it really does look like avg ripped off avast boot time scan and did a pretty poor jop in doing so!

dispite aperances this post was not really a request for help nor was it a bug report

when you jam something like utf-8 into ASCII its quite literally the same as jamming the empire state building, into a volts wagon bw aka a punch buggy

it does not work, it does not work at all, it gets full and things fall out, INTO NEIBOURING MEMORY ADRESS SPACES!

which once the offset is calulated, can be used to exploit avg at its deepest layer of protection i may not write malware, but knowing how it works is pard and par of knowing what you are doing, seems to me the only thing keeping avg safe so far is no one can be botherd coding at that deep of a level just to compromise avg rather than any real security or qality of the "product"

then we have the website, gee... wouldnt it be helpfull to be able to find yoru own post instead of having to go though every single recent post to find yours? 

its such a half assed job you clearley have not done bug testing, let alone penetration testing, and instead relying on a web application firwall to give yourselves the illiousion of security rather than rely on quality code, in short no security at all! and you expect us to input banking information? names? addresses? etc?

this is a dam security  company!!!! GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!

and to top things off, avg did servere damage to windows update removing rootkit, that took every single trick in the book, including dsim, to fix and the performance hit wow... just wow... you may as well be nortons.

my advice for anyone who reads this, is to run away from avg as fast as you can screaming!!! 15 years ago it was good, oh how the mighty have fallen.... i am astounded, absolutley astounded its taken this much time, frustration, and work just to report an exploit in your softaware and only able to do so by giving you such a kicking a real avg person shows up to defend your honour

fun fact the last time i gave an anti virus company good kick on their forums, to see who would pop out no less then their ceo did! *laughs* but i did aim really really well.

considering all of the above, no wonder you cant get above small buisness let alone enterprise you dont think they dont notice all the red flags?
