This isn't the experience we want you to have, Bruce. We'd like to clarify this for you.
Ransomware Protection is a feature available in the latest version of AVG Internet Security and AVG AntiVirus FREE that prevents your personal photos, documents, and files from being modified, deleted, or encrypted by ransomware attacks. This feature scans for and automatically secures folders that may contain personal data and allows you to specify additional folders you want to protect from untrusted applications. Additionally, you can specify which applications are allowed to modify the files in your folders and which applications are always blocked. You can manage the blocked/allowed apps through AVG program.
In your case, please check whether the sensitivity of Ransomware protection is set to smart mode (Open AVG - Menu - Settings - Basic protection - Ransomware protection - set to smart mode, if it is set to strict mode & check if it helps.
My Brother MFC scanner will not save a scan file (.pdf) unless I turn off (uncheck) the "Documents" button under "Ransomware Protection". Unless you can provide a solution, I will need to change to another security product …
After a scan is performed, the file is not saved, and the following message appears
An unexpected error occurred (CC4-006-00000000)

This is a worthless response, and I will not waste my time taking screenshots for you. I spent hours identifying the problem and gave you the solution I used to work around it. Others have found the same problem and you did nothing but ask them for screenshots. Is AVG not competent nor willing to resolve an issue AVG created? AVG program is not “blocking an app” it does not let Brother’s Controlcenter4 create and save a .pdf file unless I turn off part of Ransomeware Protection ….
