Android Phone Locked

HELP!!! My phone has been LOCKED for 2 days. I have talked to several people and received more than one email telling me how to unlock my phone.  I have Ultimate AVG on my computer and choose to extend the coverage to my phone.  I did not choose a PIN for my phone to unlock it because I did not choose the option to have it locked if it were lost or stolen.  I have a pattern that unlocks my phone when it is turned on or is awakened.  I DO NOT HAVE A PIN.  I was attempting to update some information on my phone and SUDDENLY an alarm started sounding and a voice said "THIS PHONE HAS BEEN LOST OR STOLEN".   The screen shows a rectangle that shows "UNLOCK".  When pressed,  it opens to a screen with numbers and a place to put in a 4 digit PIN (which I do not have).  It does not have an option to use if you have forgotten your PIN. I  I have done everything possible with my account on my computer.  At first I was getting a message saying that my phone could not be contacted.  Now it says, "!!!at.error.exception.PUSHCANNOTBEDELIVERED!!!".  I did take out my SIM card only AFTER the phone was locked.  When I have talked to people regarding this nightmare, I am told to wait for an email because they are not qualified to help me.  Perhaps there should be someone to speak with me on the phone to actually help me.  Please give me any advice you can.  I do not want to lose all my data on my phone by doing a factory resent.
