I got one of those pop-ups on my free edition, asking me to try Pro-protection free for 30 days risk free. It took forever to download but then worked seamlessly for 30 days. When the 30 days were up, I opted not to continue the protection on a "fee basis." Now every time I reboot the computer and about every other day, I get a reminder that my pro-protection has expired and it is time to renew. How many times do I have to click close before the softward gets the idea that I am NOT interested. It appears I can't opt out, but for trying something for 30 days I've opted into unremitting pop-ups for the rest of my life. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling under my wife's name. AVG found me and the pop ups returned with in a day or two. I left AVAST partly because of the annoying pop-ups. Now I'm tempted to go back. Is there a way to shut off the annoying pop-ups reminding to purchase protection, I've decided not to purchase?
