Hello Mark,
Thank you for posting in the AVG community forum.
This is the expected behavior and it applies to any VPN application.
This is because VPN encrypts traffic and data before sending it to a server. Depending on the distance and capacity of the server, this process may cause a slightly slower, but safer, internet connection.
You can change the location from AVG Secure VPN and see which one helps you to have a better internet speed.
We appreciate your understanding on this matter.
Hi All,
Well, as seen in other posts, I'm running BT Internet at 900Mb/s download and 100Mb/s upload… and it's always around those speeds. As soon as I enable AVG VPN… boom, down to around 100Mb/s download and 60-70Mb/s upload… it just kills connections. Also, it kills just loading up web pages as well. This is on 2 of my PC's… one with windows 11 and this one Windows 10 my gaming PC.
So, is this something that will ever be fixed as that's an incredible loss of speed in total download?
Thanks Mark

it basically moves to London which is the best one for me, but to lose such an incredible amount of bandwidth basically reduces the use of the VPN completely to be honest. So, I've got a piece of software that costs money and keeps me private BUT reduces my bandwidth by approximatley 85%… that's of no use to anyone surely? Anyhow if this is how it works, then I may as well cancel my subsciption as that's unusable and negates all the bandwidth that I have.
