I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. Have you restarted your PC and checked the status? If not, please restart your PC to close the AVG Antivirus program. From your post, I see that you have installed AVG 2016 version and it has got corrupted. Please be informed that we are performing a major migration from older to 2018 version.
We are performing this has mandatory update and planning to maintain the 2018 as a standard version. Hence please uninstall the older version of AVG program as per the steps mentioned here . Then reinstall the latest version of AVG Antivirus by following the steps mentioned here . Keep us informed about the status to assist further.
I have a PAID subscription to AVG AntiVirus (ver 16.41.7442) that expires in October 2018. I just ran a scan (for some reason the scheduled scans stopped FIVE months ago and I had no idea!) and NOW I CANNOT CLOSE THE DAMNED PROGRAM? I have tried unchecking Self protection and that didn't work. I have tried Task Manager four times and that didn't work. It just keeps telling me it is not responding. HOW THE HECK DO I SHUT THE THING DOWN???
