Nisha,
Please refer back to my response to Avinash posted above. In that posting I said "Since speaking with you I discovered ereader was defaulting to Edge so I changed the default to the application resident on my desktop. That was no help. I then uninstalled the old and reinstalled a new version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, but the WSJ PDF print version is still not being displayed." So yes, I have installed a new PDF reader and the issue still remains.
At this point Nisha, I doubt that the problem is associated with AVG. My next stepp will b e to compare the Chrome and Windows settingings on my laptop computer with those on my desktop computer. Please note that the laptop currently has no issue in bringing up the WSJ PDF version of the paper while running AVG at the same time.
Please let me know if you have any other thoughts.
Thanks again for all of your help.
David Miller
Avinash,
First, I apologize for calling you Jeff. Chalk it up to my old age and being a little hard of hearing.
To answer your questions. I suspected that there may be a conflict with AVG only after going through my Windows settings, trying out suggestions made by the Wall Street Journal's technical team in both emails and phone conversations, and looking for solutions for eReader issues on the internet. In addition, the problem, as near as I can recall, occurred only after I upgraded to AVG Ultimate with VPN, TuneUp and Anti Track components. I had disabled the AVG components, one by one, prior to calling you. I thought you might be aware of something I had overlooked.
Since speaking with you I discovered ereader was defaulting to Edge so I changed the default to the application resident on my desktop. That was no help. I then uninstalled the old and reinstalled a new version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, but the WSJ PDF print version is still not being displayed. I'm sure I will eventually figure it out, but as of today I thank you for helping me rule out any AVG product or component as being the culprit. My next effort will be a side by side comparison of the Windows settings on my laptop (which is working fine) with the settings on my desktop.
As information, I have AVG Internet Security, VPN, Tune up, and AntiTrack (with the exception of Improved Computer Login Security) active and running on my desktop as well as my laptop. Recall again that there is no problem with the laptop.
I have no idea what the problem is at this point, but I do thank you once again for all your assistance.
David Miller
Hello David.
We'll certainly look into this.
May I ask why do you think an AVG product us causing this? AVG Ultimate is a bundle which contains AVG Internet Security, AVG TuneUp, AVG Secure VPN and AVG AntiTrack. Could you confirm whether or not all these AVG apps are installed on your PC?
Regarding the ereader, may I know if it is a website or an application? If it is a website, could you try loading it in a different web browser?
Has anyone experienced a conflict involving the Wall Street Journal ereader with AVD-Ultimate antivirus software or any of the components? I get a blank screen when I try to open today's paper as a PDF type file.
Dinesh,
As I look at the discussion I now realize that I've now probably communicated with three separate people with AVG, including you. Yes, I have disabled eack AVG vomponent and I feel fairly confident that the AVG applications are not the cause of my problem with eReader not displaying the image of the WSJ print edition. Please refer to AVG Case #13830214.
Thanks,
David Miller

Thank you for understanding, David.
We referred to your previous case history. Have you tried to install a new PDF reader and check for the issue status?
