#1…I am in Australia…Why can't I find a local number to call? #2…owing to the fact we get bombarded with pushy advertisements to renew or buy…buy…buy, why is it so difficult to contact these people. Our local phone company advise only the main AVG security is the only one worth buying and that there is better free software that costs a lot less after the free period ends. This damb VPN makes my computer so slow, so I turn it off when I need speed…

Regarding the buying popup messages, It could be possible if the program not activated properly. You have a valid AVG Ultimate until 1/22/2019 and Secure VPN until 2/22/2019. If you are getting buying popup for AVG Internet Security or PC TuneUp, please follow the below steps to reactivate the program.
Open AVG Internet Security > My AVG > My Subscription > Click Logout/ Remove license (If you have that option) > Select Login and Enter your Myaccount credentials > click OK to reactivate the program. If you are getting popups for any other products, please provide me the screenshot http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-create-a-screenshot to check and assist further.
Regarding the speed, a VPN encrypts traffic and data before sending it to a server. Depending on the distance and capacity of the server, this process may cause a slightly slower, but safer, internet connection.
Please let me know if you need anything else from my end.
