Appallling deterioration in AVG service overpast 2 months!

Please accept my apologies with regards to the AVG software not living up to your expectations. I would like to inform you that you can see the scan progress by clicking on "scan computer" (the same button you use to start the scan) on AVG Internet Security interface. And, the speed of scanning depends on many things including size of your hard disk, number of data that you have and many other things. Usually a full computer scan will take more time and resources of your PC. There might be a competition for and utilization of system/CPU resources by the scanner when other running processes and programs in the background.

Since AVG changed my anti virus software on my Dell laptop but without asking me first, it now takes over 13 hours to do a virus scan. Previously over past 3 years it took me no more than 2 hours to do a full scan and previously had options to just do scans of lesser duration and I could see progress, but that too has disappeared. Also after the 13 hours scan it comes up with "looks good - no threats found" whereas previously after most scans of under two hours it often found malware and quarantined it. but it does not seem to be doing that any more either, so I wonder is it in fact doing a proper scan for malware since my software has been changed, and am I still protected like I have been for past few years? In short your service has changed from being excellent to being utterly appalling over past two months!  Why?

Using two or more program security scanning engines at the same time can cause each to interfere with the other, cause systems hangs, false detections, unreliable results and other unpredictable behavior. So please uninstall if you have any other anti virus or anti malware protection installed. To speed up a scan, uninstall unnecessary programs, clean out temporary files, temporarily disable any other real-time protection tools, close all open programs.
