Sorry for the inconvenience, we appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue. We request you to perform update as suggested below to fix the issue.
Open AVG Internet Security -> Menu -> Settings -> Update -> perform update, restart your device and check with it. It will fix all the issue related to AVG products. Downloading update files from website won't work anymore.

Problem resolved. There seems to be a conflict between AVG and K9 Web Protection.

With K9 software, AVG would fail during install or updates with "Unknown error" message.
After uninstalling this software, AVG was able to install and receive updates properly.
