My laptop is not recognising that the internet is connected so VPN does not function. I get the message: " Your offline. Please connect to the internet to use your VPN".
My android phone is working ok with the same VPN subscription. Have uninstalled the VPN then re-installed it incl using the activation code, but still does not turn on.
Any suggestions?

Hello again. I have since allowed access to an AVG technician to get remote access and the problem for now seems to be resolved. Mainly, the solution was to update both AVG VPN and AVG Internet Security (even though I thought I had updated the VPN, going so far as uninstalling then re-installing the VPN program several times without success). I was also advised to restart my router after enacting the updates that seemend to be working.
So, I'm really none the wiser thoguh I note that the recommended DNS addresses were completely different to the ones that were on my computer at the time of the problem.
Thanks for all your help anyhow, Dave
Thanks for replying. I received an email asking for remote accesst o my computer but I am not happy with this! Furthermore, I checked on the Certificate that was going to be used and it expired on the 3 Nov 2021, so this looks a bit suspicious and I will not allow this remote access even though it looks authentic enough (AVG logos etc). Can you verify that this is a legitimate way of solving this problem? Its very unusual!
Thank you for writing us back, David.

David, I'd like to assure you that it was a legitimate email sent from AVG.
However, if you're not comfortable with taking advantage of remote support, please change the DNS settings of your computer as mentioned in this article and check if the issue persists.
Note: I'd recommend using the Google public DNS.
Also, try connecting to an alternate network (different WiFi or mobile hotspot) and check the situation.
Keep us updated.
