I understand the inconvenience caused. When you purchase an AVG subscription, it will continue until it is canceled. You will be billed again 15 days prior to the start of the next subscription period (formally known as “Continuing Protection Service”). You will receive a notification email about the upcoming automatic extension 45 days prior to the start of the next subscription period. The automatic extension can be disabled up to 16 days prior to the start of the next subscription period.

I canceled my subscription back in April 2017. Today, I got an auto-renew notice that you billed my paypal. I used to trust AVG but when you couldn't resolve an ongoing popup issue (your popup by the way), I canceled my subscription. And now you're billing me? Kind of a scam, no? I sent a request for refund. Please credit my paypal account and return my $69.99. I will be disputing the charge with paypal as well.
