Hello Bozena.
When you Check hard disk for errors and select Thorough analysis, your computer restarts and the disk check runs during startup. In rare cases, the disk check stops mid-progress and may appear unresponsive. If this happens, we recommend following the steps below:
- Restart your PC.
- During reboot, you see a prompt to skip the disk check. This prompt appears for 1 second only, so we recommend pressing the SPACE key repeatedly during reboot to skip analysis.
- Download the CheckDisk mod (http://files-download.avg.com/filedir/util/CheckDisk_mod.exe) tool. This ensures that AVG PC TuneUp does not attempt to continue the disk check next time you start up your PC.
- Run the downloaded tool, then click Continue.
- The Work done dialog appears.
Disk check during startup should now be disabled.
Recently on AVG TuneUp I ran the disk check. It checked one of my external hard drives that I have hooked up to my computer. When trying to fix the issues on the disk, it failed due to an error.
Now whenever I restart my computer, the system automatically wants to fix the external drive but it say it will take around 4 days to complete, so I am forced to shut the computer down and restart.
How can I stop it so that the computer doesn't want to check the disk each time it restarts?
