Please repair AVG Internet security/ AVG PC TuneUp http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-repair-AVG from the control panel and then check the status. If you face any difficulties, please let me know which program you are facing the issue with the update and maintenance failing to assist further.

Pc Tune Up repaired and seems to be working fine.
Internet Security was repaired and laptop restarted. On opening Avg Security, all aspects show protected but there is a large red warning AVG IS OUT OF DATE.
updating does not seem to work manually now.
