Hello again.
(NB  Since the 18th Dec your chat service has been unavailable ….)
Please can we resume ref this problem; delay at this end was due to other difficulties with the PC (which may or may not have been associated with whatever caused the AVG problem originally ??);
viz:-

a) An important personal data file discovered to have vanished from the hard drive. (It’s ghost is found … but can’t be revived). Possible suspects: WIN 10 update?; TuneUp file-clearing operation …?)
b) Another large programme download could not be made to start. Supplier tech support made me spend an inordinate time trying to get it to work. Ultimately the advice didn’t succeed and I have abandoned the fight. (Windows 10 is however up to date ….)
AVG Recapitulation:
AVG Ultimate AV and TuneUp both stopped working and your previous tries to revive them did not succeed.
In the meantime to have some AV protection I installed AVG Free AV and this seems to be working OK.
Obviously I hope you can now revive AVG Ult.
(And remove the Free version and all unnecessary files left over)

  • As far as my PC is concerned it has permanantly displayed a message to the effect that the tech chat service is unavailable, I checked after logging in almost. every day after 18 Dec. Nor would it accept accesst to a phone connection

  • Re b) the program there was a problem with to install was Corel PaintShopPro Ultimate. Every time a reinstall was tried after some manoevering a fault message appeared The error message ref is 0xc000007b
I have abandoned this software.
  • I don't thik activating or upgrading rhe free AV is relevant. Ihave already paid for

I am sorry for the experience in getting connected to our chat session.

On checking the case number provided, I see that you have reached our AVG technical support and we have resolved your concerns.

As requested, I have emailed you the link to chat with our live technical associates for your queries regarding AVG programs.

  • The case was not solved via the chat line. My last chat-line message - Dec 2 - explained there would be a delay while other problems were dealt with.
  • On Dec 18 I tried to resume but met with the constant unavailabilit of the chat. Still the case today.
  • I have not reeived the email you mention so I still don't know where to reachthe chat line.
  • The subscription for AVG ultimate runs for another yeaar so I would like to get back on it asap!

  • The matter was not resolved in the case treated by the tech support group. My last input msg per the chat line, on 2 Dec., explained there would be a delay (due to the other problems).
  • When I was ready to continue the chat-line was no longer available (rebooting etc had no effect nor, until I finally used the Community did I discover any way to continue communicating).
  • Up to now I have not received the email you mention. Today the chat connection is still not available via the web site. So how do I gat to it?
