Has to re-install AVG 2014 as firewall failed.
Error : Driver Installation and MSI Engine failure.
There had been a maware attack which deleted MS Updates, Installer, Defender & Firewall.
By trial and error I re-installed 2014.
Have to remove AVG 2012 as well as 2014, there is a driver issue avgfwd6a.sys
Exclude this driver from future spyware scans.
Replace MS Updates, Installer & Defender in services.msc
Run MS patch fixes for Installer & Defender to sort out registry keys.
Run MS Updates
Check MS parts start in services .msc

AVG 2014 installed at 2nd attempt (after this)

Why don't you ask AVG to dial in & have a look?  They can take whatever info they like. Well they could even fix it.
May I suggest "A Clockwork Orange" by Anthony Burgess for light reading while you wait.

You didn't send it but it was uploaded to our ftp you should provide us with file name in that case.
Your issue is most likely caused by missing "Base Filtering Engine" try refer to this (http://www.registryrecycler.com/blog/2013/09/repair-and-restore-base-filtering-engine-bfe/) to fix it.

I like a challenge.
If I was starting again, I would firstly check in services.msc that MS Defender, Firewall & Installer are a) there and b) work without freezing up.  I had not had an auto MS Update for a while due to malware.  Had to exterminate the trojan horse first.
I do not know a quick fix but am willing to help.

LOL Russell  Have sent them  diagnostic output twice…but they are in the Czech Rep… so it  takes awhile I guess… since I'm in Calif. I've tried some of the things  you sent  still working on  it… thanks again…
