In order to analyze it please provide us with diagnostic output (run it after inducing described behavior) using this tool and please add detailed description of issue.
I recommend any latest version of modern browser, IE 9 is quite old now.

periodically, the email module of avg 2015 will unload…and the only way to restore it is by disabling it, and then reenabling it.
Other than doing a complete uninstall of the entire program and reinstalling…

I am planning to do a off line full scan of my computer (boot time scan)…to make sure me avg has not been compromised.
other question: is there a preferred browser that avg works best with? (I have been using IE9, DEP, protected mode, no extension, 64 bit on a 64 bit vista machine…
I tried chome but the lack of proper certification checking was a non starter…I had used firefox in the past, but it seems very difficult to properly lock down.
