Thanks.  I uninstalled successfully, now I am trying to re-install and the installation process is stalled at 26.7 MB of 35.7 MB.  I have tried uninstalling and re-installing but it seems to get stuck at the same position each time.

I've been trying to update my AVG as it says "Antivirus database is outdated".  The dialog box shows that AVG is in the process of updating, but it is stalled at 60% and won't go past that point.  I've tried re-starting it, re-booting my computer and nothing seems to help.  Any suggestions?

Bly, When uninstalling have you tried the AVG Remover tool?.
