Jim,
I discovered this disgraceful forced update on 2 of the 13 PC that we have here this morning.(paid for internet security) I agree with you completely that 2012 is the last version of AVG with a good GUI. All the ones from 2013 onward are horrible on a desktop.
On the first PC I managed to uninstall 2015 and after reboot it was gone. Next I went to the download page for 2012, Support > Downloads. Then drill down to get either the 64 or 32 bit version and download it. It has installed fine and I have disabled the Program Update in advanced > schedule settings. Whether this will stop the forced update I am not sure.
If it happens again we will not buy AVG in future but go siomewhere else. They may think that there new product is wonderful but I don't !

Reinstalling makes NO DIFFERENCE NOR DOES TRYING A REPAIR. IT STILL IS NOT WORKING. I've been through ALL the help articles related to this problem AND THEY DON'T FIX THE ISSUE.
THIS IS A KNOWN FAULT AND HAS BEEN PRESENT FOR MONTHS.
I DO NOT WANT 2015, IT IS DIRE AND IMPOSSIBLE TO USE. The Symantec style interface is one of the most hopeless things I have had the misfortune to use. THIS IS WHY I'M STILL ON 2012, BECAUSE IT WORKS PERFECTLY UNLIKE ANY OF THE LATER VERSIONS.

Hello Graham.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused. We would like to inform you that there is a non-Zen version is also available and it is always recommended to use the latest version for better protection. Thank you.
I too hate the newer versions of AVG particularly the "zen" update but unless I completely remove all traces of this totally unwanted piece of C**P and then refuse to allow auto updates it insists on reinstalling it!
The only solution I found after 2 hours working on it was to remove and the reinstall 2012 and then I'm forced to manually download and update daily.
AVG get your act together and allow those who prefer the older interface versions to opt out of this new version, all you are going to do by forcing this on people is a loss of business and truly awful reviews thus turning possible sales into people going elsewhere.
Komal I'm sorry to say this but you are spouting the company line here and even after a reinstall you still get pushed into "zen" unless you disable most of the auto components!
Hi, this morning I go to update AVG 2012 and afterwards it won't do anything despite repeated attempts. Next thing I get a message that it has been upgraded to the latest version WHICH I HAVE NOT ASKED FOR AND NOR DO I WANT THIS.
These are the reasons why I have not upgraded;
2013 doesn't work and keeps crashing
2014 half the features are not enabled and refuse to enable
2015 identity protection not functional
With ALL of the above THE INTERFACE IS UTTERLY AWFUL AND PAINFULLY UGLY and worse IS IMPOSSIBLE TO USE OR SET ANYTHING BECAUSE OF THE ERRORS IN THE SOFTWARE.
I have looked at the help sections for cures for these issues and no matter what you do THE FAULTS ARE STILL THERE.
I want to go back to 2012. It works and is easy to use and doesn't constantly have issues like the later versions do.
How do I block this ILLEGAL and UNWANTED upgrade from happening each time I try to update 2012?

Jim, In the end of the day there may be a 'fait accompli' situ & you may want to explore this avenue (http://avgclick.me/AVGRefundPolicy).
