On February 8th, AVG did an automatic update and advised me to reboot, so I did. The process went okay until I inputed my password, and then after a few seconds, my screen went black, and that is it, nothing.
I had to reboot three times before the computer gave me a chance to get into Safe Mode. We unistalled AVG, then rebooted to the same disappointing result. I consuted Dell support team who connected to my computer, uninstalled again, reinstalled, and got the same Black Screen of Death. Interstingly the remote GoTo Assist actually reestablished connection, and the techie got to see my black screen.
In desperation, I rebooted 3 times to get into safe mode where I did a system resotre which allows me to get on the internet, but wihout my AVG condom.
I did talk to support three times. The final time, Dinesh, finally concluded it must be the operating system corruption, that was easy for him. Dell techies performed several tests which came up negetive for anything wrong with the operating system.
Just as a matter of course, I somehow purchased AVG twice and you guys owe me a refund of a hundred and some dollars. If you would look into that fiasco, please do.
Bill
