Sorry for another post on the topic – I have searched these forums and found the uninstaller, sysinfo, and even a post about VC++ redistributable files. Nothing in those other posts have helped unfortunately.
I did a new install of Windows 10 Professional on my PC. After the Windows 10 install, I installed AVG Free without any problems. AVG_Protection_Free_1606.exe
After Windows updates updated my Windows 10 version, I got an error from AVG saying it couldn't run and I needed to reinstall.
The reinstall failed.
I then ran AVG_Remover.exe with no problems.
Based upon another thread in this forum, I reinstalled the 2012 VC++ redistributable.
Trying to install AVG Free again failed with a "general error":
Description: General error (0x0659)
Error code: 0xC0070659
I'm now running AVG_SysInfo.exe… I can paste the results here but I'm not sure what to post. If someone can tell me a specific file, I can put the contents of it here.
Any assistance anyone can provide is greatly appreciated.
