Hello Ruth.
It is to keep you informed that installation directory for 2016 version does not contain version name such as “AVG2016” but only “AVG”. Please check whether you could find a folder named AVG.
Thank you.

I have had AVG free for a long while. This morning a popup said there was an update to the program. I had 2015 free. So, I clicked and it asked me where to install, so I left it as it was in the installer c:\program files\AVG. Now, there is a folder c\program files\AVG\ and under that is a folder Av, and another folder AVG2014, but I had a folder AVG2015, that is gone. There are a bunch of files and folders under the 2014 and one has %userprofile% what I am trying to find out is this. Is the AVG Free updated program using that 2014 stuff, and when it updates again to 2017 or whatever are they always going to be using that 2014 stuff? Maybe the topic is incorrect, but I didn't know how to actually title what I am trying to find out. I just don't want to mess up the protection.

Hi,
Sorry, I should have put all the information in. Under options about AVG it says AVG version:    2016.0.7163
Virus database version: 4455/10887 (Sunday, October 25, 2015, 6:17AM) I am on an old computer with WinXP Pro SP3. I'm not sure how to put up screenshots here, or maybe they don't go here, but I have put them up at this address  http://www.poems2u.com/avgshots.htm

This is the situation. Since I tend to be overly explanatory, I have made screenshots, so I keep the explanation shorter.
1. Before the install of 2016 version, my program files had C:\Program Files\AVG and then under that  one folder AVG2015 and one AVG2014. I know this because the shortcut was C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG2015
2. I got a window that opened yesterday, Oct. 24, that said something about AVG program update and clicked yes.
3 After the install my program files has C:\Program Files\AVG - with one folder Av and the second still AVG2014
4. I now have this, too. C:\Documents and Settings\ruth\Application Data\AVG\AV\cfgall
5. On computer boot now,  after the junk has loaded and task bar icons a dos window automatically opens with I believe the following address C:\Documents and Settings\ruth\Application Data\AVG\AV\cfgall and this folder Av  has 97 objects, and the dates, except for a couple of them range from 10/12/2015 thru 10/24/2015
6. the final screenshot shows what happens when I click to open AVG. It loads all components, doesn't show the bottom window anymore, and then the components kind of fade and disappear and then they fully load again and remain. Not showing in the screenshot but all the top part is there, with options and such available, and when the components load fully, that is the end, no bottom window after the little notice about AVG Antivirus.

That is all the information I have. In the 2014 folder, all the files in all the folders under that have a 12/3/2013 date except logs which show up to a 9/19/2014 date. The Framework, Setup and UDII folders show 10/24/2015.
Wondering if I should just install again over everything and maybe that would stop that dos window from opening, and whether I can just delete the 2014 folder since the files date back to 2013 except the logs. Thanks for any help.
