I am sorry to know that you received negative feedback about the latest AVG 2017 version from your friends.
Please be informed that for the release of 2017 version, both AVG and Avast planned to work together, implemented features to make sure that customer find it user friendly and effective in performance.
We are planning to make 2017 version as a standard version and make necessary changes in it whenever our customers provides their feedback.
We have made several changes after receiving feedback for 2017 version and customers are happy about the immediate response.
It is recommended to have the 2017 version installed as the update for the older version will be gradually stopped when the newer version arrives.

My opinion as to why Avg 2017 version is so problematic is that; they were forced to beta test it on it's customers because they were bought by Avast last year for a large sum of money, and Avast is in a hurry to recoup that money, that's why they are using avg as a popup marketing machine. Avg 2017 is not even close to being reliable as of this point. Taking your frustrations out on the customer service agents here is understandable, but they are not the ones writing the program code, even though their responses may sometimes seem puzzling. I am still using the 2016 version of regular avg antivirus only because several of my friends who i had recommended avg to began having problems with the 2017 version. Anyway, i foresee in the next couple of years or so, i expect avg to disappear as it will be absorbed into Avast because of this purchase. This type of purchase has occurred with antivirus companies before and the one that has gotten purchased is the one that always disappears.

Abirami, thank you for the quick response. I will encourage them to hang in there a little longer rather than switch to another antivirus for now. One has switched over to Panda, but i told him their customer service is terrible. I think he will come back soon.
