I've just had to clear and then re-install the latest AVG Ultimate. Now AVG advertisements pop up every time I open a web browser. Please explain how to disable this. Thank you.

It seems that this has happened due to 'Password Protection' feature available within AVG Internet Security.
When it is enabled, it would open a browser tab and ask your permission to enable its extension on your browser.
This is the expected behavior. If any malware or unwanted app access the file with stored credentials, popup shows immediately and you can choose to allow/block.
