Ok, so the only way to eliminate them is to switch to another vendor.  That's too bad.  Looks like I have some research to do before removing AVG.

I have purchased AVG for several computers.  I have disabled system tray notifications. Options -> Appearance -> uncheck Display system tray notifications.  However, I keep getting advertisements for AVG products (Happy Valentines day, Your PC needs a tune up, etc.) 

How do I stop these?  I do not want advertising, I only want to see messages that are important to me, like updates available, threats found, etc.  I do not want to buy any additional AVG software and I do not want to be nagged.
