AVG and Crossover on iMac and Catalina

Deep Scan has been running almost 24 hours now. It has been saying it is it 99% for the past 12 hours. It is supposedly scanning Time Machine. But the Time Machine has less than 1 Terabyte on it. The app is still saying that there is no past deep scan. The Finder does not indicate that the app is frozen but it scanning the same "Thumbnails" for the ladt 10 hours at least. This is not normal behavior is it? Should I quit the scan and have AVG ignore Time Machine? I really could use some advise!!!

Fantastic app!!! It turned out to have the flexibility that I was looking for. Your suggestios were spot on. I have now bought and installed the complete package. By the way AVG did not trash any of my dedicated Mac apps as did Sophos. Way to go!!!

I am seriously considering AVG Premium today. As a user of Sophos I am fed up with its activities and frequently terrible support since the onset of Catalina 10.15. My problem, and if you can solve it I will buy today, is that I run an app called CrossOver 19.01. It is a 64BIt emulator that will run all kinds of apps and games that run in Vista to Windows 10 64BIT in containers. I worked on beta testing this app for years and use it for a lot of graphics work and major research apps and of course many games the we 70 year old people used to play. When I installed Sophos it trashed all 200+ apps within Crossover in its initial scan. No way to avoid it! It also crippled and disabled several of my mainline Apple approved and supported, Mac dedicated  apps.

If I were to install AVG on my Mac is this going to happen? Can I protect these apps from AVG activities? Also I work with developers from all over the world and we move things via different means such as torrent/magnet via Folx which Sophos designated as Malware and destroyed. If I can avoid this kind of problem with your app I will but it now.

This isn't the usual behavior of AVG scan, John.
Usually the deep scan takes some time depending upon the file size on your system. In this regard, please restart your MAC once & rescan to check.
If issue persists, please skip scanning your Time machine & check if it helps.

You are welcome, John.
Feel free to contact us, if you have any queries with AVG.

I supected as muh and had already done as you suggested. I have also erased and reformatted the Time Machine and will start the new backup after AVG finishes with my Boot Drive. That will eleminate the need to check Time Machine at all because the Boot Drive will be free and clear. Thanks much for contacting me!
