AVG and Malwarebytes

Hello Mike,
I understand the inconvenience. After recent AVG update, customer will receive notification as "AVG is in passive mode" when there are other security program installed on your PC. The update was released to inform customers about the necessity of having a single antivirus program on their computer. It is not recommended to have two security program running on same PC which might cause various issues for PC at any time. We do not want our customers to lose any valuable data because of these conflicts with antivirus program. The conflicting between antivirus program is the same from the beginning but it is our duty to inform customers about the seriousness of the issues that would occur, hence we decided to highlight customers through this update. Regarding AVG pop ups, you can disable the AVG promotional pop ups: Please open AVG Internet Security > menu > settings > general > pop ups > uncheck the box "show pop up offers for other AVG products".
Best regards,
Alok.

Mike,

I am sorry that AVG is treating everybody, including you, like trash. Clearly, AVG has forgotten who put them where they are.

As a business owner with direct influence over countless machines, I am warning my customers about the pitfalls of AVG's products and why they are hazardous for your business security. And it's pretty easy to do, too! Ha ha!

AVG, your tomfoolery has not gone unnoticed. AVG is circling the drain. Their product became bloatware in 2011, and now in November 2017 it has fatal security holes.

I found this page through a google seach regarding AVG disabling protection because of Malwarebytes. wtfmates? Obviously, some crooked AVG executive isn't getting enough cocaine on his desk.

For info.. 2 links from the Malwarebytes forum....

AVG Guru

I have been using full versions of AVG internet security for over 8 years and all this time I have used Malwarebytes running alongside with now problems at all.  Even when the new AVG 2017 suddenly appeared on my computer all ran well. Now, after the last update was installed I am being told by AVG to uninstall Malwarebytes.  We all know there is no reason to say there is a conflict and I feel AVG has no right to tell me what I should have on my computer.  The AVG software even goes bright red and to sleep until it knows Malwarebytes is disabled, A kind of blackmail it seems.  AVG says it could slow down my startup etc, but surely that is my problem not theirs.  There must be a setting available which will disable this unacceptable warning.  Another thing I find annoying is to be pushed to buy an unwanted Optimizer program each time I use the Scanner.
Could you please supply some setting or patch to sure the above situation.

Morning Alok,
Thanks for reply.  When you put me into 'Passive Mode' does this mean you have disabled protection or is it a warning only?  If in fact your are switching off protection you are putting customers at far more risk than the possiblility of a misunderstanding between two programs.
Regards,
Mike

Mike, I understand the situation. When the passive mode is turned on, the protection will also disabled. So I would recommend you to uninstall the other Antivirus program to enable AVG Protection. Our developers have used strict formulas in the new version to avoid conflicts.
