I also am having this issue. I disabled AVG and got all the emails from my gmail account to sync into outlook 2010.
As I've stated previously, the toggle switch does not work. When I click on it, a text message flashes on the screen in red, saying "Turn on email shield for a safer Inbox." But nothing changes, it stays on.
Why am I seeing a different interface than others?
I followed Santhosh's advice and we are out of the woods, for now. Seems we were running on an expired version of the paid tool rather than the free tool.
How will I find out when the problem has been resolved?
Any new information on when this AVG-Outlook email issue will be resolved? My AVG was updated today and there is no change. Getting close to 30 days without the ability to access emails without having to disable the AVG email shield. What is the temporary workaround that is mentioned above?
Chris,
Please reach us via your own post using this link:

It is indeed disappointing when you have to contact us multiple times about the same issue. Unfortunately, we do not have a confirmation on when exactly a permanent fix is going to be released. We request your extended patience in this matter.
Any ETA on when this problem will be resolved?
I have a large number of clients that are waiting for this to be resolved.
Chris, we are sorry for the delay you may have experienced.
Our developers are working towards the fix and there is no updates available now. They have suggested a temporary workaround to resolve the issue. We request you to contact your client and ask them to connect with us remotely. Thank you.
Hello Steve,
We will work together to sort this issue.
Let us disable AVG email shield component on your computer and check if that fix the issue.
To disable this component, open AVG AntiVirus free/Internet Security installed on your computer, click on "Menu->Settings->Components->Email Shield". Disable this component and check if the incoming server works fine from Outlook.
If you face any difficulties, please let us know and we will assist you further.
Steve, please open AVG Internet Security/AVG AntiVirus > Menu > Settings > Components > E-mail shield. Click on toggle bar to disable it temporarily. Update the status here.
We'd like to add an information that our developers are working towards the permanent fix of this problem.
We appreciate your patience.
Chris, I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you are currently experiencing.
Did your clients update their AVG Internet Security and verify the issue?
We recently ran a scan on a computer running Outlook 2007, reading email (non-SSL) from a private domain host. Shortly after the scan, Outlook is unable to connect on incoming mail, works fine on outgoing mail. Could the scan screw up our Outlook configuration? If so, how to remedy?
Steve, it seems that you are checking in the wrong page.
Open AVG AntiVirus free, click on "Menu" at the top right corner and click on "Settings->Components". From here search for Email Shield Component and disable the same from your computer.
Once you disable this component, check if you are able to access send/receive emails from Outlook.
They are already doing the workaround and getting there emails but they want the problem fixed not a workaround!!
Hi Chris,
We are aware of this issue and our developers are working on a fix.
It will be released in the next program update.
Your patience is much appreciated.
When I go to Components, I see no such item as "E-mail shield." I see 6 items - Rescue CD, SafeZone Browser, Security browser extension, SafePrice browser extension, Passwords, and Do Not Disturb mode. None of them has any update capability when I open them.
On the initial page, I see a set of 4 buttons, the second one is called "web and email" and it says "protected". When I click on that, I see two toggle buttons, one for Web Shield and one for Email Shield. But I cannot change the toggle; when I click on the toggle, a red-text message flashes so quickly that I cannot read it, and the toggle does not change.
Yes I have already done that and it is allowing my emails to come through. I will wait for a resolution.
Thanks for your reply.
Steven, we regret for the inconvenience caused.
Please uninstall your AVG AntiVirus free from the control panel and restart your computer.
Then install the product and check for the issue again.
Refer this article for installing the AVG AntiVirus free https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=Download-and-install-AVG-AntiVirus-Free
Let us know the status of the issue.
Thank you for the screenshots.
It seems that the components interface is different for you. Let us try to disable email shield from main interface.
Open AVG Internet Security, click on "Web and Email" tab and in the next window use the toggle switch to disable AVG email shield.
Once this is done, check if you are able to send/receive emails from outlook.
I also have the problem of Outlook 2007 not sending or receiving emails after an AVG update. I did disable the E-mail shield component and Outlook sends & receives without any issues. This problem is now into its third week without being resolved. Any progress being made to fix the issue?
